Assessment: Each leaner will be assessed practically and through the MCQ based exams for all four units.
SIA Door Supervisor Refresher
The Door Supervisor Refresher course is for existing SIA Licence holders who wish to renew their Door Supervisor SIA Licence.
Course Content
The Door Supervisor Refresher course has three units:
Unit 1: Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry
Learning Outcome 1: Know how to conduct effective search procedures. This learning outcome will be assessed by both knowledge and practical assessment. The knowledge assessment is an externally set and marked multiple choice question paper consisting of 10 MCQs questions. The examination will last 15 minutes and learners will require to answer correctly 7 out of 10 questions (70%) in order to pass. The practical assessment is externally set. The practical assessment must be visually recorded for each learner and is recommended to take approximately 15 minutes. Each learner should introduce themselves, state the date and the techniques they are demonstrating. Learners will be required to achieve a pass mark of 100% for the practical assessment.
Learning Outcome 2: Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe This learning outcome will assess knowledge. The knowledge assessment is an externally set and marked multiple choice questions paper consisting of 7 MCQ questions. This examination will last 10 minutes and learners will require to answer 5 out of the 7 questions correctly (70%) in order to pass.
Learning Outcome 3: Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat This learning outcome will be assessed by knowledge. The knowledge assessment is an externally set and marked multiple choice question paper consisting of 10 questions. The examination will last for 20 minutes and learners will be required to answer correctly 7 of the 10 questions (70%) in order to pass.
Learning Outcome 4: Know how to safeguard the public from incidents of spiking. This learning outcome will be assessed by knowledge. The knowledge assessment is externally set and marked multiple choice questions paper consisting of 8 MCQ questions. The examination time will last 15 minutes and learners will be required to answer correctly 6 out of 8 (70%) in order to pass
Unit 2: Application of Physical Intervention in the private security industry
This unit will be assessed by both knowledge and practical assessment. The knowledge assessment is an externally set and marked multiple choice question paper consisting of 30 questions. The examination will last for 45 minutes and learners will be required to answer correctly 24 of the 30 questions (80%) in
Results:
Usually result of the exams processed in 2 weeks (Depends on holidays in this period). Learner will be informed through the email provided as you pass. In case if fail in exams, free resit will be arranged.
Certification:
It will take two weeks to receive the certificate and will send it to you via email. If you need hard copy of certificate, it can be collected by the office free of charge or if you want to get it by post, there will be charge £10 as admin and postage cost.
Qualification link to SIA account
All SIA qualifications are approved according to the SIA standard and requirements. You information will be send to SIA once you pass and it will be linked to your SIA account automatically. Make sure use your name details (first name, middle name, last name) accordingly as you filled in class or SIA account. Must be same as your ID.
Admission requirement:
1- Prove your English eligibility:
It’s essential that security operatives can communicate effectively. They are likely in the course of their work to have to make calls to the emergency services, or to need to resolve conflict.
Learners should, as a minimum, have language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening equivalent to the following:
- a B2 Level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications
- a B2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- an ESOL qualification at (Level 1) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland • an ESOL qualification at Scottish Credit and qualifications Framework Level 5 awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and taken in Scotland
- Functional Skills Level 1 in English
- SQA Core Skills in Communication at Scottish Credit and qualifications Framework Level 5
- Essential Skills Wales Communication Level 1
Free English assessment:
Free English assessment can be conduct in the training centre to prove your admission eligibility in English proficiency. It should contain all four components (Reading, writing, speaking & listening). Eligible learner will be enrolled in the course.
2- Emergency first aid at work (EFAW 1 day):
It is mandatory the complete the emergency first aid at work (EFAW 1 Day) training before starting the SIA qualifications. If you already completed the EFAW training, you need to prove it otherwise we can arrange EFAW training before joining the SIA qualifications.
Document required:
During the centre admission process, you need to provide documents to prove your identity.
We suggest that you check you have the right identity documents before you start your application.
You will need to give us each of the following:
1- Document from group A
2- Documents from group B
3- 2 photo of yourself
Each document should be the original, physical document. We do have scan facility in the office.
1- Group A documents
You need to provide 1 document from group A.
We accept:
- a passport that is signed, current, and valid.
- a driving licence photocard issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the UK
- a driving licence photocard and its paper counterpart issued by the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in Northern Ireland
- a UK original birth certificate issued within 12 months of birth
- a UK biometric residence permit card
2- Group B documents
You need to provide 2 documents from group B. Each of these documents must show your current address.
We will accept:
- a bank or building society statement from the last 3 months (we will accept 2 statements, but only if they are from different banks or building societies)
- a utility bill from the last 3 months (we will accept gas, electric, telephone landline, water, satellite TV or cable TV bills but not mobile phone bills)
- a credit card statement from the last 3 months (we will accept 2 statements, but only if they are from different credit-card providers)
- a council tax statement from the last 12 months
- a mortgage statement from the last 12 months
- a letter from the last 3 months from any of the following:
- HM Revenue and Customs
- the Department of Work and Pensions
- a Jobcentre Plus – or any other employment service
- a local authority
- a P45 or P60 tax statement from the last 12 months
- a paper version of a current UK driving licence (not the paper counterpart to a photocard)
- a driving licence photocard issued by the DVA in Northern Ireland (not the paper counterpart)
- a pension, endowment, or ISA statement from the last 12 months
- a valid UK firearms licence with photo
3- Photo of yourself
2 physical but not digital UK standard passport size recent no more than 6 months old photograph
